Master Chen De Qing

陈德卿

Master Chen (Deqing Chen) is the founder and director of Jinlong Culture & Performing Arts Ltd. He is a cultural event organiser, a performer, and a martial artist with more than 20 years experience in teaching and performing Chinese Martial Arts.

In 2007, he began working with the Stockport Metropolitan borough Council and built friendship links between primary and secondary schools in Stockport, UK and his hometown Kaifeng, China.

He introduced the annual theatre production “Chinese New Year Extravaganza” in 2008 with a strong aim to showcase and integrate Chinese culture within Greater Manchester and rest of the UK.

He has also been acting as an Arts Director since 2007 for the Chinese New Year celebration in Manchester China Town and Albert Square, which is now considered one of the biggest and best in Europe.

Jinlong Culture & Performing Arts Ltd was set up by Deqing Chen with a view to expand and broaden its range to reach a wider audience, sharing his resources in Chinese classical and contemporary arts that are unique and inspiring. Jinlong has been actively promoting Chinese cultural arts to various sectors providing performance, workshops and demonstrations. It’s first theatre production Chinese New Year Extravaganza visited Stockport Plaza Theatre in 2007 with the support from Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council and Chinese/Kaifeng Cultural Bureau. Since then the production has visited other towns and cities around the UK every year.

Master Chen and his students are often asked to participate in various events from promotional to corporate, and cultural events throughout the year.

Students from Jin Long have been attending the UK National Wushu Championships since 2002, and achieving great results in both Junior and Adult levels. Jin Long also has students who are the representatives of the British Wushu team, who take part in European and World wushu championships.

Master Chen also visits different schools and societies around the country for seminars and performances. He has been regularly invited to do seminars at Imperial College in London.
